EMI-5s is a gateway Modbus/Profibus instrument, it can be connected, through a fieldbus board (Profibus), to the measure instruments as EMA, EMM, CTT or HRI series. EMI-5s can be connected to this devices through a serial line with standard EIA RS-232 or EIA RS-485.

The connection to the master Profibus is allowed through the standard Profibus cable. This interface implement the DP-V0 slave in Profibus DP network.Profibus-DP is a multi-master system. In the networks it’s possible to have up to 126 devices on the same bus.

In Profibus-DP networks, the interchange of data between peripheral modules and the master is made automatically bythe Profibus controller, which ‘virtualize’ the data exchange memory of the DP devices in the memory of the master.
